Relax Your Face for Branding Photography: Look Natural, Not Stiff

I can hear you already, and I know that a photoshoot was probably on your MUST DO list, not on your WANT TO DO list. I understand the awkwardness that being in front of the camera makes you feel, and to be honest, that's why most of the time I'm on the opposite side to you! But what I have learned is that if I don't show my face and be visible, my business is not visible either.

Before we start, we'll grab a drink and I'll go through your shoot plan. This gives you time to have 5 minutes after your journey to relax and to know what to expect. If you are a natural smiler, great, if you prefer not to look directly at the camera, we can make it work. You don’t need to fake a smile or pose like a model to look professional. This shoot is a reflection of you and your business - it should look and feel like you.

If you can relax your face, pull your shoulders down, unclench your teeth so your jaw is soft then your eyes will brighten and that’s it, you look approachable without trying too hard.

The results? People immediately connect with you online and in person. Stiff, forced expressions don’t inspire trust; natural, confident ones do.
