Below are the common questions I hear about brand, personal-branding and business photography for smart, ambitious women who are done hiding, and ready to be seen.
Frequently asked questions
Brand/personal-branding photography is a purpose-built shoot that goes way beyond a “nice headshot”. It’s a library of high-quality images that show you, your business vibe, your story, and how you help. It’s for anyone who wants to be seen, stand out, and build trust. If you’re serious about your business image, yes — you need this.
A headshot is usually one image (or a few) – just your face or upper body – often generic. Branding photography is broader: it includes headshots and lifestyle shots, you in your environment, showing what you do, how you do it, the personality you bring. Branding images are designed for all your channels and to build your visual identity.

Don’t just pick someone with a camera. Pick someone who gets branding, gets your audience, and can translate your story into images. Ask about: their process, how they plan the shoot, if they guide you on wardrobe/branding, how usage/licensing works, how long before you get your images. If something feels off—your gut will tell you—walk away.
Pre-shoot: you fill out a simple questionnaire about your brand or business, then we’ll talk—your brand, your goals, colours, wardrobe, location. You will also receive a comprehensive prep guide to support you in choosing what to bring to the shoot to repressent you and your brand in a way that tells your story and will connect with your audience.
During: I’ll guide you—no stiff “pose and smile” stuff, we’ll capture authentic, confident images.
After: you’ll receive a gallery of strong images for website/social/branding use.

Cost varies widely because what you get varies. But here’s how I frame it: you’re not paying for one static image. You’re investing in your visibility, your confidence, your brand image. For example, my headshots start at £75 and branding packages at £395 you can check out and compare all of my branding packages here .
I automatically include a commercial-use licence that lets you use the images across your website, social, print, ads with no time limits. If you're checking out other branding photographers - definitely ask this question. Copyright in the UK automatically belongs to the photographer unless agreed otherwise — so the licence matters.
This is exactly the kind of shoot I specialise in. Feeling camera-shy? Totally normal. My job is to take the awkward out, guide you into authentic confidence, and deliver images you love, images you’ll feel proud to share. You don’t need to be model-perfect — you need to be you in your best-branded version.
If you need a confidence boos tbefore your shoot, take a look at my Women's Body Confidence, Gratitude and Positivity Journal.
A month or more is best. If things change — a wardrobe idea, a business pivot, a location change — we’ll adapt. Good branding shoots are built for flexibility. The key: don’t leave it until “next week” and then expect magic without prep. I plan each shoot individually so that it is perfect for what you need to show up confidently in your business, so time for prep is essential!
Location is key. I work with you to choose a place that fits your brand — it might be your workspace, a stylish venue, outdoors, or a mix. The location should feel true to you and tell your story. We’ll pick together based on style, mood, light, and audience.
I do have a studio in Polegate which can be availabel but we are limited to only a few different set ups there.
Your wardrobe should feel like you on your best day — confident, comfortable, and completely aligned with your brand. Think in colours that reflect your business personality: bold tones for energy and leadership, soft neutrals for calm authority, rich textures for luxury. Avoid anything that feels tight, itchy, or “not you”. The goal isn’t to look like someone else — it’s to look like the version of you who already owns the room.
If you’re ready to go all in, my Brand Style & Story Experience takes this to another level. It’s a full-service personal branding photography experience that includes a colour consultation, styling session, and personal shopping experience with a qualified stylist and colour consultant Donna Lane — followed by your brand photography shoot with me.
We’ll plan your brand visuals from the inside out: the colours that light you up, the outfits that make you feel unstoppable, and the imagery that tells your story with confidence. This is ideal if you’re ready to elevate your visibility, launch a new business, or step up as a leader in your field.
When you walk into your Brand Style & Story session, you’ll know everything — from your wardrobe to your brand palette — is working together to make your images look effortlessly cohesive, premium, and powerfully you.
I’ll deliver a curated selection of strong, ready-to-use images and the number will be dependent on your Branding Package. Turn-around will usually be within 14 days of your shoot, but may depend on time of year. I will let you know if it will be any different. You’ll get enough images to cover website/social/branding for months ahead.
One good session can go a long way – but if you’re serious about staying visible and evolving your brand year-on-year, then yes: a refreshed session every 6-12 months (or more) is wise. Because your business evolves, your look evolves, your audience evolves. My Year of Branding Package (bottom of page) keeps your visuals fresh and aligned.
Absolutely — if you have a team, or you want your workspace, client interactions, or behind-the-scenes shots included, we can plan that. It adds depth to your brand and shows how you operate. We’ll map out how many people, roles, location, and include it in your plan.
Because stock is… well, generic. And when your potential client sees generic, they hear “generic business”. Your brand deserves authentic visuals that say: This is me. This is what I do. This is why you should work with me. Custom brand photography elevates you, builds trust, makes you memorable. Stock may save upfront cost — but it always costs down the line in missed connection and missed opportunities.
Everywhere you show up. Website hero image, About page, services page, LinkedIn profile/banner, Instagram feed/stories/reels, Facebook page cover, newsletter headers, printed materials, launch graphics. The images should pull through a consistent look so your brand feels recognisable. Also: rotate them over time so your visuals don’t stale. Good question. When we plan your shoot we’ll factor in your upcoming direction, not just today. But if your branding shifts significantly (new look, new service, new audience), you’ll want new imagery. Consider it part of your growth: you invest once now, then refresh when you level up.
Real life happens. If we’re outdoors and the forecast is terrible, we’ll discuss a backup plan or reschedule. If you’re ill or something urgent comes up — again we’ll reschedule. The aim: your shoot should be powerful not stressful. We’ll build in flexibility. I allow one reschedule per booking and ask for at least 24 hours notice where possible.
You’ll feel both. The goal is that you look aligned with your brand AND you look like you. No stiff, fake version. The confident version. The version you want your audience to see. We’ll style, we’ll pose, we’ll direct — but the result will feel authentic.
A good rule: refresh when something changes — your look, your brand, your service, your audience — or at least every 12–24 months. If you’re posting regularly and evolving fast, that might be sooner. Fresh visuals show you’re active, relevant, and evolving.
